Gatorade Endurance was created to deliver the critical fluids and nutrients endurance athletes need during training and racing. About a year ago I used #GEnduranceBR to fuel for some fall races and I enjoyed the variety of products offered. I am going to follow a similar fueling and hydration strategy for Chicago and New York City this year with hopes of ‘redemption’ and maybe a PR.
My Goal at the beginning of 2019 was to set a PR in Chicago. Because of some psoas muscle discomfort I am not confident, today (7 August 2019,) that I will be able to set that PR during the race.
Anyway, last year I ran a strong race and finished in 3:20:48. My goal for that race was to pace myself the same way I help pace others, rather than run strong out of the gate and see what I have left at the end (my strategy in Berlin.)
I had plenty left in the tank at the end of Chicago and really thought I had a good shot to run strong in New York City.
I developed Shingles somehow and fell apart at the end of New York City.
I am going to use Gatorade Endurance to help me train and prepare for a strong comeback with 3:18 – 3:20 in Chicago and a follow up 3:20 in New York City.
What I think is most impressive is; this year Gatorade sent a how to guide with their products which I will post on the nutrition page of my site!
