Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages. For your viewing pleasure, may I present my 2020 gift guide. No surprise here folks, a lot of this list is fitness related. Mainly because I spend all year playing with fitness related stuff, but also, if you’re looking for a gift for that fitness-minded person in your life; maybe this list will help you find something new and interesting for them. I may receive commissions on purchases made from our chosen links; but not all.
I the list I have below is roughly in order of how I would like my wife to purchase them for me….
1. Hyrdow Rower
Forget your stationary bike, just go outside and ride!
With everyone buying TV’s and video game systems; why not get something that activates the hippocampus rather than thickening your frontal lobe.
Bring home the best rower on the market (in my humble opinion.)
As a side gig, I hang out at an electronics store and talk to people about different technology which can benefit their life. I would like to say that I’m the reason Garmin has actual working displays in places like Best Buy, but that’s a story for a different time. I love playing with the Hydrow Machine in the front of the store and am trying to get a post holiday contest going with some of the store associates. I am super impressed with the feel; which I attribute to Hydrow’s patented drag mechanism which is electromagnetic and computer-controlled.
I think anyone would be stoked to get this as a gift. But this can also be a great couples gift (rather than two people trying to decide on what the other wants… go in on this together…. for the house…)
This made my number one spot because I really
2. Science in Sport Products
Next up is Science in Sport. Pictured is the Rapid Recovery supplement; however, the discount code is not exclusive for the product pictured. I have used SiS for a few years, in varying forms. If you scroll through my blog, you’ll see that I love testing different products from varying companies.
The reason I am recommending SiS products (and the Rapid Recovery in particular) is the ease of use. Every form of SiS product I have tried has been easy to use. Rego is no exception.
– It blends quickly and well (no clumps)
– I don’t need milk to ‘supplement’ the protein for muscle recovery (mixing with water is recommended)
– There is no caffeine; so I can use it any time of day. I really enjoy mixing it with my coffee after a morning run!
The other products are really great too. The hydration tablets dissolve super fast, the gels are easy to digest and don’t require water.
This is on the list 2nd because I love testing free stuff, but its so cool to get things I will put to good use as gifts (so I don’t have to buy it….)
3. Turtle Gloves
Next up are Turtle Gloves. These are a great addition to anyone’s winter wardrobe, but especially for runners.
Turtle-Flip Mittens are perfect for running, outdoor fitness and Winter activities. Available in technical, breathable fabrics in various weights for every season. Selections include features such as wicking, breathable, windproof and water-repellent.
Reversible Fingerless Gloves Category includes styles with water repellent and non-slip features for biking, rowing or cross-country skiing. Cozy fleece styles are a great solution for indoor warmth and therapeutic comfort for various hand ailments.
I put Turtle 🐢 Gloves on my list because it’s winter and it gets cold and I sweat…
4. Brytn Smile
So, maybe this next one is not fitness related; but its something that I have been eyeing up for a long time.
Personally, I want to feel more comfortable with me. Its not an image thing or based on feedback that I’ve received; but really I try so damn hard to have good oral hygiene, I want it to look that way. I blame the varying color of my teeth on the braces I wore, but it could be the coffee…
For those of you thinking, wouldn’t it be rude to give someone a teeth whitening system as a gift…
The answer is no. Especially not if you have active dialogue with that person and are honest with them. MY wife and I have talked about things like whitening and the invisible braces; and if I bought this for her (don’t spoil the surprise) she would respond positively!
p.s. I will let you know how she reacts in January….
Back to fitness.
Supplementing a healthy lifestyle is expensive. Quality supplements are more expensive.
I can buy a head of celery for 2 bucks, but my green supplement is 50.
Granted I NEED to eat the celery before it goes bad.
And my green supplement contains more than celery…and its convenient…and when you find the right one it tastes fantastic without having to add a bunch of stuff to it!
FNX is an amazing supplement brand. I think the Rebalance powder is my favorite product. Rebalance is a green powder (see why I was going there…) Greens powders (in general) contain high levels of vitamins and minerals associated with maintaining a healthy immune system. The flavor is so delicious that you’re actually sad when it’s gone. My personal favorite is unicorn punch. I’ve tasted A LOT of green drinks and this one is the least earthy and gritty.
The reason FNX products (and Rebalance in particular) is on my list, is that it really isn’t cheap.
I would argue that it is a bit more expensive than the brands you could get a CVS, but its worth it because I actually want to drink it.
6. TimTam Massagers
So there can only be 1 number 1 spot. Number 3 was 100% weather related. 4 and 5 were because I wanted to keep those items on the top five; so I hope that 6th doesn’t get lost in the fray (so to speak)
What would a holiday wish list be without a percussive therapy device!
Okay, okay…Perhaps you don’t know what percussive therapy is. That’s okay! See my blog post about TimTam for pain, but in a nut-shell, percussive therapy devices strike your muscle tissue about 2,000 to 3,000 times per minute, which facilitates blood flow to the targeted area. More blood flow tends to reduce inflammation and soreness, expediting your recovery and making you ready for the next day.
Percussion massagers are among the easiest ways to recover your muscles after intense workouts, or long days at work! I’ve selected Tim Tam as my gift idea because their devices are easy to use and come with great bonuses!
You can absolutely feel the benefit after a few minutes of using the device. Muscle soreness and stiffness is virtually a thing of the past.
I have several of their products and have not been let down by any of them. I also feel that for the price, you get a lot. TimTam products are not the least expensive devices, but I’ve purchased the “reasonable” brand and have been disappointed.
TimTam offers a product for entry level budgets up to products which could be used in clinical settings. Everyone I’ve let try my TimTam has asked where they could get theirs. Click Here
This just in!! CNET listed TimTam in their best percussive massagers!!!
What runner would create a list without putting socks on it?
Almost as important as shoes, but easier to pick out for a gift; socks are an important (and sometimes expensive) item in a runners arsenal.
Socks are important for the overall health of your feet. Not only do socks absorb moisture, but they are also used to help prevent rubbing of shoes on the bare foot. Socks can also provide cushioning to pad the feet and help keep them warm. As we are going into the fall and winter months, socks can help prevent cold feet and even frostbite. Specialty socks, such as compression stockings, can improve circulation and prevent leg fatigue as well.
The veins get a boost pushing blood back to your heart. Compression socks can keep your legs from getting tired and achy. They can also ease swelling in your feet and ankles as well as help prevent and treat spider and varicose veins. They may even stop you from feeling light-headed or dizzy when you stand up.
Tiux offers a great quality product at a price I can feel proud telling you-all about.
8. Triathlon Gear
I am excite about this brand new, triathlon, swimming and Stand Up Paddleboard equipment brand from Tampa Bay, Florida.
Born out of a deep connection with the ocean, Stingray’s goal is to disrupt the market and bring high performance and superior quality products to the consumer at a low-medium price point. All of Stingray’s products have been designed and rigorously tested by elite level through novice athletes, to provide performance as well as an unparalleled level of comfort. The materials they use are in line with other high-end brands best products but without the high price tag.
Triathlon gear makes my list because more often than not, my wetsuit is the most expensive, underutilized piece of equipment in my closet. If it were a gift; I wouldn’t feel bad about not wearing it.
Let’s put this in perspective. If I buy $120 pair of running shoes and use them daily, my $/mile investment is good. With my wetsuit, I only wear it in the spring and fall, only if I swim outside… making the $/mile investment poor. A gift wetsuit though…. would save me money to buy shoes that I feel good about buying and give me a minor competitive edge (strictly on the principle of buoyancy) thanks to someone else’s generosity.
I would be remiss if I did not put Aftershokz on my list somewhere. These are game changing when it comes to hands free music and conversation from a headset.
For everything else there’s Active. I’ve been a user of Active.com for years and there are times where I have the paid for membership and times where I have the free version. In most scenarios I beneif from Active.com ‘s low prices and wide selection.
