The first in-person race I signed up for, in 2021 is The IMT Des Moines Marathon! BibRave lists the IMT Des Moines Marathon as one of The Top 20 Marathons of the decade in the United States. Read More. Offering The Top 10 Medals & SWAG in 2019. Read more.

This will be my first ‘destination’ race since 2019 where I was a pacer in the Rehoboth Beach marathon. I paced a race early in 2020 (the weekend of the Olympic trials, so right before life was placed on pause) but that was in Upstate New York, and I don’t really consider my home state a destination, even though my family and I stayed the night.

Having never been do Des Moines, I am really excited to tour the city by foot; which I think is one of the underrated advantages of road marathons. The T-shirts and the medals are great, but actually seeing the city on foot is my favorite part.
I am actually really looking forward to going through the Drake University Stadium.

The plan is to take my family and make a weekend of it. It’s hit or miss if my family will actually want to come. They go back and forth on how much fun my #runcation events actually are….

For the record; they LOVED the pool and the beach when we went to Deleware, they really didn’t care for west Virginia even though the Battlegrounds were GORGEOUS!

Any way, this is about Iowa..

I’m going to cut this one short because I have to get to work (both professionally and running.)

#JoinMe2021 as I look to get back to in person racing.
